To Whom It May Concern,
I am reaching out because I have exhausted every contact and department in an attempt to resolve an ongoing refund issue with Walmart Canada. I am now at the point where I am considering taking legal action to recover the funds Walmart still owes me.
The outstanding balance is now $1,016.10. This includes the original outstanding amount of $886.47, along with additional temporary charges that have not been refunded, bringing the total amount owed to $1,016.10.
I have been trying to resolve this matter since March 24, 2026. Despite repeated attempts to recover my money, the issue remains unresolved.
The original funds were returned from the bank in relation to my old card, but Walmart never properly reissued the money to me. I have repeatedly contacted Walmart and have continued to be told that the matter is being worked on or that I need to wait another 5–10 days. On September 15, 2026, a manager contacted me and told me that the money would be coming. Despite that assurance, I am still waiting I have that call and every call recorded from the last 8 months on 2 phones.
I have contacted customer service, supervisors, the escalation team and its managers, the Ethics Department, Walmart's head office and headquarters, and Vanessa Yates, CEO. I have dealt with multiple employees and departments in an attempt to resolve this issue. I have also contacted the bank and other parties involved in tracing the funds. Despite exhausting these avenues, I have not received a resolution.
I am now requesting assistance in reaching Walmart Canada's Legal Department or the appropriate legal representative. I have been unable to locate a verified legal email address where I can formally raise this matter. If you could please forward this email to the appropriate person, department, or legal authority, I would greatly appreciate it.
This situation has had serious consequences for me, both medically and financially. I am a single woman living on disability, with no family support or other assistance to fall back on. I deal with severe fibromyalgia, severe asthma, and complex PTSD and severe OCD.
I am also undergoing further medical investigation, including testing for Stiff Person Syndrome, and I have an ENT appointment tomorrow.
The vacuum involved in this situation was important to managing my asthma and breathing. My doctor even wrote a note to Walmart asking for assistance because of my breathing difficulties. After returning the original vacuum, I attempted to reorder the exact same model using the reorder function on my previous order to ensure I selected the correct product. Instead, Walmart sent me a different model with a stated suction rating of 38 kPa rather than the 39 kPa model I had ordered. I was told this was because the original model was out of stock. This was unacceptable, as I had deliberately selected the original model because it helped me manage my breathing and asthma.
I was also hospitalized one month after returning the vacuum. In my opinion Walmart caused my hospitalization, and the difficulties surrounding this matter have added significant stress to an already serious health situation. This experience has affected me physically, mentally, and emotionally and financially.
The financial impact has been equally serious. The money Walmart owes me was part of my savings. As someone living on disability, I depend on those funds to cover essential living expenses, medical needs, and emergencies. Instead, my savings have been drained while I continue waiting for money that should have been returned to me it's my money not Walmarts to keep and hold and withhold from me.
I also have a 13 year old medically necessary dog who depends on me for her care. She requires a special and expensive diet to help prevent bladder stones, as well as ongoing veterinary care as she gets older. The money Walmart owes me could have been used for her food, veterinary expenses, and emergency needs. I no longer have the financial security I had worked to maintain, and I am worried about how I would cover an unexpected emergency for either of us.
I am not explaining these circumstances to ask for pity or special treatment. I am explaining them because this prolonged situation has had a real and serious impact on my life. I am a person living on a limited income, managing significant health conditions, and caring for an elderly medically necessary dog. Having $1,016.10 tied up in an unresolved refund has left me financially strained and unable to use my own money for the things I need.
What I find particularly frustrating is that I continue to be told that the matter is being worked on, despite the length of time that has passed and the repeated assurances I have received. If the funds were returned to Walmart by the bank, the matter should be investigated and resolved directly between the parties involved. I should not have to spend months going back and forth between Walmart and the bank to recover my own money.
I have made repeated attempts to resolve this matter through phone calls, emails, management, escalation, and corporate contacts. None of these efforts has resulted in the return of my funds. I cannot continue indefinitely receiving the same response that someone is working on it while the outstanding balance remains unpaid and I have all the recordings to prove it for the last 8 months on 2 phones.
At this point, I am considering taking Walmart to court to recover the money owed to me. I would much rather have this matter resolved properly without further escalation, but I need someone with the authority to investigate the outstanding funds and provide a concrete resolution.
I respectfully ask that you please forward this email to Walmart Canada's Legal Department, General Counsel, or any appropriate person who has the authority to address this matter. If you are unable to assist directly, I would be grateful if you could direct this email to someone who can.
I am sorry for taking up your time or causing any inconvenience. I am simply trying to recover my money after months of exhausting every avenue available to me. I have tried to handle this through the appropriate channels, but I have reached a point where I no longer know where else to turn Ombudsman OBIS is aware and has been contacted in regards to this both with Walmart and my bank.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email. Any assistance in forwarding this matter to the appropriate legal representative or decision maker would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Laura.
